Three ways to connect:

1. Log in to Verso, Pomfret Public Library's online catalog. If the item you are searching for is not in our catalog, click the ILL button on the navigation bar. This is a direct connection to reQuest.

2.Search all iCONN databases, including reQuest, simultaneously by logging into www.iconn.org using your 14-digit library barcode number (no spaces). When the keyword search screen displays, enter your search terms and click on Search.

3. Search only the reQuest database by logging in to www.iconn.org using your 14-digit library barcode number (no spaces). When the keyword search screen displays, click Search reQuest - the Statewide LibraryCatalog. (Note: Using the Search reQuest button on the log in screen allows you to search the database, but has no interlibrary loan capabilities. You must log in with your barcode to request items.)

How to search and submit a reQuest:

  • Enter your search terms, i.e. author, title, subject, etc. in the search box. (Notice also the Advanced Search and Browse reQuest Catalogs links on the bar at the top of the page. These searches work better if you know a specific author and/or a specific title.)
  • Click the Search button. The screen will refresh and you will see the number of hits for your search terms. A new window with a list of titles or authors will open. If a new window does not open automatically, click the number of hits next to "reQuest Main Catalog". Tip: the number in parenthesis after the title information indicates the number of libraries that own that edition of that title. Choosing a title with a higher number increases your chances of receiving your request.
  • Click on one of the titles. The screen will refresh and display information about that specific title. Tip: The list after the bibliographic information indicates which libraries own the title. Only those that say ILL lender are part of reQuest. You may borrow in person at the other libraries if you have a barcoded Pomfret Public Library card with a current expiration date.
  • Click the the green Request This Item button in the top, right-hand corner of the page or the left-hand margin of the page. A new window will open which will display the interlibrary loan request form. Fill in your name, password (set by you), and phone number. Leave all other fields blank. We suggest that you use the same spelling of your name and the same password for all of your interlibrary loan requests in this system. By doing this, you will be able to track all of your requests at one time rather than individually.
  • Click the Submit button. This will electronically send your request to staff at Pomfret Public Library and we will try to obtain the material for you.  Tip: the system generates a random list of potential lenders. The first lender receives the reQuest and indicates that they will ship the item or forwards the reQuest on to the next lender if it is not available. The reQuest continues down the list until it is filled or all libraries have declined, in which case we will either retry the reQuest or let you know that it is unfillable.
  • Pomfret receives ILL delivery on Tuesday and Thursday. Most reQuests come within two weeks; we will call and/or email you when yours has arrived. Your ILL reQuests must be picked up and returned to Pomfret Public Library. They may be renewed unless the lending library has issued a recall. Pomfret Public Library is responsible for ILL items borrowed on your behalf; if we are billed for lost, damaged or unreturned items, the expense will be passed on to the patron.
